Rooted in Community.
Growing Toward Liberation.

Ubuntu Rooted strengthens communities by building knowledge, deepening connections, and expanding power across systems so people can live with dignity and care.

WHO WE ARE

I Am Because We Are.

Ubuntu Rooted, formerly the Tri-Cities Diversity & Inclusion Council, is a community-centered organization serving the Tri-Cities and Mid-Columbia region. We create learning experiences, culturally responsive programs, organizational partnerships, and advocacy opportunities that strengthen people, organizations, and communities.

Our work is grounded in human dignity, whole-person wellness, community knowledge, and the belief that lasting change happens when the people most affected help shape decisions and solutions.

We respond to needs people face today while also working with community to change the barriers and conditions that keep creating those needs.

Our Vision

We envision a world where justice and equity are embedded into every system, where communities of color are free from systemic harm, fully resourced, and able to live with joy and dignity.

Our Mission

We strengthen communities by building knowledge, deepening connections, and expanding power across systems so people can live with dignity and care.

UR Powerful

UR Seen. UR Heard.
UR Connected. UR Rooted.

Ubuntu reminds us that we are part of something bigger. Our individual well-being is connected to the well-being of our neighbors, our communities, and the systems we share.

Learning Happens in Community

Helping organizations move from intention to action by embedding equity and inclusion into everyday policies, practices, and decision-making. Through training and consulting, we help teams build trust, strengthen belonging, and create sustainable culture change.

An interactive learning experience that builds self-awareness and strengthens communication through an accessible personality framework. Participants gain practical tools for understanding differences, improving relationships, and working more effectively together.

Build a practical understanding of how trauma affects behavior, relationships, and everyday interactions. Participants learn to recognize trauma responses, understand triggers, reduce harm, and respond in more grounded and supportive ways.

Whole-person, culturally responsive learning and support designed to help individuals and communities navigate chronic health conditions. Programs strengthen self-advocacy, build confidence, encourage connection, and support long-term wellness.

What Our Community Is Saying

Tenya Yakima County

I had no idea how effective culturally relevant approaches to therapy could be until Saturday’s keynote with Dr. Jenn. I can’t believe how much I unpacked in just a 1-hour keynote!

JaVonna Benton County

This experience has stripped me bare in the best ways. I felt safe and cared for and uncovered that I needed that.

Jacqueline Franklin County

I healed wounds I didn't know that I had but they were hurting.

Miriam Grant County

This retreat will have a special place in my heart. All the speakers were so knowledgeable and genuine with their intentions and their presentation. The inner work we did was so relieving and eye opening, it encouraged me to keep working on myself. Not just for me but for the generations to come. I am so grateful for this experience.

Courtney Yakima County

This retreat was extremely encouraging, positive, educational, and fulfilling. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this. I will never forget this wonderful weekend with my Black, Latina, and Indigenous sisters of color. We are so powerful when we stick together! Thank you so much.
